Car insurance: Love it or hate it, you've got to pay for it. If you want to drive a car, you have to have car insurance. For many people their car insurance payment is a significant outgoing, costing several hundred pounds, if not going into the thousands. That's going to make a dent in all but the deepest of pockets and everyone looks for ways to get a good deal on car insurance – not necessarily the cheapest but the most cost-effective, getting the cover we need at a price we think is fair.

Something of a self-confessed hoarder, I am constantly getting told that I need to throw things out. I should point out that my habit has not turned into an obsession which sees me collect broken and unusable items; well, at least not yet anyway.

This week's blog doesn't exactly have a theme, it's more of a hotch potch of thoughts; things that annoy me, things I've seen that have been good deals and I also want some feedback from anyone who reads this blog!

I am sure you have all heard about major energy companies reducing the price of their gas this past week, offering consumers a meagre 5% reduction after increases of more than 15% at the end of last year. Whilst we must be grateful for small mercies, this small reduction is unlikely to give any major relief to cash-strapped Brits facing a barrage of incentives.
After conducting a little research for you savvy shoppers out there, I
have come up with a few ways in which you can improve your home, lower
your energy consumption
and increase your bank balance. Not only
will these tips save you money but they will also help you to become
more environmentally friendly, giving everyone a helping hand.

I'm becoming a hoarder. I'm not so bad that my quirky habit has taken over the entire house but I heard that hoarding gets worse with age and I'm a little concerned. My husband has gifted me with my very own room in our house that is my designated crafting, sewing and blogging room. It has unfortunately turned into a storage room to hold my secret stash of boxes, bags, greeting cards and scraps of pretty paper. I like to think that I am fairly organised and can find a place for everything but as of right now, I barely have enough room on my desk for my laptop for typing purposes and I know something's got to give.

The Duchess of Cambridge turns 30 today and, while you might expect someone of her status (and let's not forget considerable wealth) to celebrate such a momentous personal occasion in style, she has instead opted for a 'low key and private' event. No matter what your opinion of the Royals is, you have to admire her for not flaunting her wealth ostentatiously when most of the country is suffering with financial hardships of varying degrees. That said, however, there's no reason why anyone needs to let any momentous occasion pass by without a little celebration.

Whilst the
New Year may seem like a distant memory now that we are all back at work, the
larger stores are
still circling, desperate to get you to part with your cash. By now, most of
us will have probably
made (and broken) our New Year's resolutions but that doesn't mean it's too
late to change.
