It has been hard to avoid the recent news surrounding the riots which plagued the UK last week, with constant updates detailing new devastation. One thing which was also mentioned was the requirement for extra police officers to work over the period, meaning that many had to cancel or reschedule their holiday travel plans.
Fortunately, some tour operators such as Thomson and First Choice have made what can only be viewed as a noble decision to allow police officers to reschedule their holidays without incurring the usual rebooking fees.

My very first car, back in the days of Herbie popularity (the first time round!) was a VW Beetle. It was canary yellow, had a small hole in the floor (that didn't matter as long as it wasn't raining) and was the most temperamental car I have ever owned. That aside, I absolutely loved my little car and have very fond memories of the time I spent driving it. So, I have eagerly anticipated today's unveiling of the newly designed
Beetle and have to admit to thinking it's really...well,
funky!

Did you know that...
- Brits spend more money online than any of the other countries in Europe?
- We spend ten times more online than Italy and Spain and as much as France and Germany combined?
AND
- When you read the rest of this blog you will read it in The Doctor's voice?
All
of this is true (well, maybe not the last one) and it is probably one
of the reasons that you are on this website.

Christmas and New Year
There are some songs that epitomise Christmas for me and none more so than this classic duet which has been sung by many pairings since its original performance by Frank Loesser and his wife in 1944. Personally, I love the Tom Jones/Cerys Matthews (of Catatonia fame) version but whichever version you like, this crazy weather is no joke. So, if you're not being persuaded by the not-so-subtle words of Frank or Tom (or any other amorous man for that matter), what else can we do to keep warm through these sub-zero temps?

This week, the UK branch of internet giant Amazon has launched a series of online 'megadeals' in an attempt to inflict on the British public the hysterical chaos that is Black Friday. Now don't get me wrong, I'm all for saving a bit of money and anyone who has braved the freezing UK High Streets for the New Year sales is fully aware of the hectic (and sometimes brutal) battle for the best bargains but
does the UK really need another American tradition?

When news that Apple had a big announcement in store broke, fans of the company had rather high expectations. Some were expecting news of an iOS 4.2 update, while others had hopes of hearing about iTunes Cloud Streaming. It's understandable then, that all that waiting only to hear that The Beatles' album collection would be available on iTunes came as something of a disappointment, to say the least.

Just yesterday,
Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced the launch of a new messaging system which would combine text messages, IMs, and emails, all in a single place. Aptly named Facebook Messages, the new application will allow users to more easily track the history of conversations they've had with friends, family, and acquaintances, rather than resorting to trudging through the various services individually as we're currently forced to. So, how do you know if Facebook Messages is going to be right for you?

As Savoo's resident tech blogger, I spent much of the morning trying to decide whether I wanted to discuss the Queen recently
joining Facebook, or last night's launch of Call of Duty Black Ops. I ultimately decided to go with Call of Duty for several reasons.
1. Her Majesty won't be my friend.
2. She won't let me poke her.
That said, the launch of Call of Duty has some rather large expectations to live up to. Its predecessor, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 is the all-time record holder for the most successful entertainment launch, earning over £242.4m in its first day of sales and outpacing everything from films to books to music albums.

Sorry this was posted late. Oh wait, it wasn't. And the reason why it wasn't late was because I didn't use an iPhone 4 alarm clock to remind me when to post it. As if the iPhone 4 didn't have enough problems as it stood, users throughout Europe were recently hit by a bug in its alarm clock program that prevented it from being updated when the phone's time was updated from British Summer Time to Greenwich Mean Time this past weekend. Though we here at Savoo were lucky enough to avoid it, scores of other people apparently weren't. Here are some random Tweets from users about it:
