5 Cheap Ways to Entertain the Kids this Halloween Half Term

pumpkins

It’s the last half term of 2015 and the final school break before Christmas; and if we’ve ever needed to be frugal, it’s now.

As the threat of Christmas shopping for the kids hangs in the air and Halloween pumpkin shortages become the talk of the country, we’re going to have to get creative with a few new ways to entertain your brood next week.

Here are five ideas on how you can keep the kids entertained on a budget:

  1. Check out local events

Halloween treats

As bonfire night looms, you can often find cheap (or often free) public firework displays towards the end of October. Or perhaps your town will put on an ‘Autumn hike’ like mine and entertain the kids with a walking adventure; encouraging them to explore the local area and its wildlife?

And you’re bound to find a Halloween fun day or two nearby where you can bob apples and embrace dwindling pumpkin supplies. Check out wherecanwego.com to find events in your local area.

  1. Get creepily creative with Halloween decor at home

Halloween-Home-Decor

Start your Halloween preparations next week and get the kids to help you turn your home into the scene of a scary movie. You’ll love the impressive range of Halloween products at I Want One of Those (IWOOT), plus we’ve spied a 13% off Featured Halloween Products deal that’ll make your hair curl.

Here are some of my favourite IWOOT products – Blood Bath Shower Gel, Trick ‘R Treat Soundtrack and Sweet Spirits Cookie Cutters. Order this week to ensure everything is in stock and arrives on time.

  1. Take a Halloween ride on the Emirates airline

emirates

A largely untapped London sight; the Emirates Air Line takes you on a ride across the Thames for some of the best views London has to offer. And from Weds 21st until Sat 31st October, ghoulish figures and ghostly music will take over London’s cable car.

This is one of my favourite Halloween entertainment options for next week.

Don’t forget to use your Oyster card and enjoy 25% off your trip. Nearest stations to pick up the Air Line are North Greenwich or Royal Victoria.

  1. Eat out for cheap

pizza hut

You can guarantee that there’ll be some great dining offers available for families over the half term. My favourite family-friendly deal for kids and grown-ups is the Get 2 Medium Pizzas for Only £10 at Pizza Hut deal (available Tuesdays).

  1. Get Christmassy and see Elf

elf the musical

The smash hit musical, Elf, is hitting the Dominion Theatre at Saint Giles-in-the-Fields between 26th – 29th October, and ticket prices start at £30.00.

A delight for kids and big kids alike, this hilarious tale of Buddy, a young orphan child who is mistakenly transported to the North Pole, really signals the start of Christmas. The musical stars Ben Forster as Buddy the Elf and Girls Aloud‘s Kimberley Walsh as Jovie.

I’ll see you there…

What will you do with the kids next week?
