As I am sure you are aware, the Versace collection for H&M has been revealed. This long-awaited marriage of couture and the High Street was greeted with loving approval by fashion's media elite, a usually fickle crowd who delight in the fall as much as the rise to grace. Maybe it is the enduring love for the house of Versace or the fact that these mass produced dresses are actually high fashion but every review I've read has been overwhelmingly approving of the line. As I am certainly not in the media elite circle, I can unbiasedly tell you the truth about this "purse-friendly" endeavour. It is
gorgeous! While the collection is primarily focused on partywear, there are some nice jackets and separates to mix in with daily wear. Donatella was even generous enough to include jewellery and accessories into the budget friendly line.
As long as we are discussing the monetary side to the world of fashion, I found it interesting that

Christian Dior's sales had risen by 18.7 percent a year after their long time lead designer was ushered out in disgrace. With Galliano's now infamous anti-Semitic drunken rant entangled in court and the designer hidden away behind rehab walls, we all sat and wondered at the future of both the designer and the house of Dior. There was no question that Dior was not finished but how long and hard will the road be before they anoint another genius and take over the catwalks once again? At this moment all seems well as customers eagerly buy up the remaining Galliano designs, driving sales up. Hopefully talks are underway and talent is on the way in because I personally don't want another trip to the circus with Mr. Bill Gaytten, do you? In case you forgot the tragedy of his trip to wonderland, here's a picture of the lovely Karlie Kloss dressed as an haute couture clown!
It's
Party Dress season and this year is a fun one! How did we get here? With the economy being an ever widening mud puddle at the end of the drive, you'd think fashion would look like one big funeral dirge. But instead we are being offered joyous and economical reprieves of glamour. This year you can wear a gold lamé
sequined dress. In fact this year you can and should wear sequins a few times a week. Maybe a cardigan with some sequined shoulders. A little something to tuck up in your hair. A t-shirt with sequined designs. Shoes that sparkle in any light. Everywhere you look sequins are shining bright and doing it with affordable class. I found three indulgent looks for under £100 at
New Look.
I'm sure you have noticed that long hair is being brought back under the control of the curler set, right? Of course you have. Every time you look with envy upon the effortless side parted waves of flowing precision tumbling down a starlet's pretty face, you are ogling the work of a curler set. Getting a true masterpiece takes visits to a master hair dresser and that can get expensive. Instead just purchase your own
set of curlers and start by following this informative little
video.
