Creating a yummy brunch on Sunday morning is the perfect way to say thanks to mum for all her hard work over the years; add in a champagne cocktail, a bunch of flowers for the perfectly laid table and a selection of chocolates and you’ve got yourself a Mother’s Day she’ll want to remember. Here we show you how!
Don’t just serve your Mother’s Day brunch on a table cluttered with newspapers and other kitchen debris. Set the table with the best cutlery and crockery and top it off with a beautiful centrepiece of flowers. This bunch from Eflorist is ideal, and right now you can get 13% off all flowers over £25 with Savoo.
For mums with a sweet tooth, complete the setting with a box of chocolates. If you are feeling really extravagant (or if you are clubbing together with your siblings for the occasion), invest in a dedicated selection box from Hotel Chocolat like the one below, and get 10% off orders £35 or more.
For Drinks
Champagne at brunch is always a treat, but you could go one step further with a homemade hibiscus mimosa cocktail, as suggested by thekitchn.com. You will need 1 wild hibiscus flower, 1oz of elderflower liqueur, 1oz of pink grapefruit juice, 1/2oz wild hibiscus syrup, and 5oz of dry sparkling wine (use a food and drink voucher to save money on the wine). Place the flower in the champagne flute. Shake the next 3 ingredients on ice and strain into the flute, and then top with the sparkling wine. Add long grapefruit zest to garnish.
Put all the ingredients other than the passion fruit into a blender and blitz until smooth. Poor into a tall glass, and scrape the passion fruit seeds on top.
The Food
Mother’s Day brunch wouldn’t be complete without serving up a plate of delicious homemade food (remember to check out our voucher codes to save money on the supermarket shop). We love Martha Stewart’s recipe for sesame toasts with poached eggs and avocado, and you can even get in on the action too since it serves three people- yum!
