England are out of Euro 2012 and frankly I am pleased as having to play the Germans, who would have smashed us into the Black Sea, would have been unbearable.  Who cares really?  I mean, what did we expect?  Yes they tried hard and were brave, but ultimately Italy were a far better team. Where am I going with this when it comes to saving money?  Well, for starters at least we don't have to pay to go to the semi-finals which means we can make the most of the summer sales.  After a depressing summer where there's been little or no chance to watch or play golf or cricket we should treat ourselves to some new gear in the sales.  In fact, go one step further and treat your wife, girlfriend or boyfriend to something while you're at it.

But where do you start?  Well, as usual the best place to start is Google, but if you don't want to shop online for your deals and fancy making a day of it, then the high street does have some good deals right now.  More of that later though, as I want to tell you about some online deals you might be interested in taking a look at.

I think I have talked about Mr Porter before, but if you want to make big savings on high end clothes then sign up as there is up to 50% off right now on certain items.  It's expensive, but if you've always wanted a Paul Smith jacket then go here.  John Lewis has some great deals at the moment if you wanted something techy or you could head in-store to see what you could get for the other half.

Talking of the other half – if you've been spending a bit too much time with the lads over the last few weeks and want to win her love back, then Boo Hoo is a great place to buy a summer dress or something like that which, in my experience, goes down really well!

We're talking about basic retail therapy here and while it may not be seen as the manliest of pastimes, spending some of your hard-earned cash on the high street can boost your confidence and make you feel good.  But do your maths first in ensuring you only spend what you can afford. Once that equation is completed either search online, head to the high street or head to a factory outlet park like Bicester to cheer yourself up.

If you want to take it one step further then think about heading away for a weekend break with mates or the significant other!  I am currently looking at taking the brunette for a weekend away and can't decide on Copenhagen or New York.  She's never been to NYC before and there are some decent flight deals at the moment.  Accommodation when you're there isn't cheap, but it would be a real adventure. Copenhagen is closer and she is obsessed with 'The Bridge' so I know she would like that.  Let me know what you think and I will make a call based on your feedback.
Happy shopping!
