Ten ways to market your business on a shoestring

By

First of all I am delighted to report that this event, on Thursday 7th February 2013 in Hertford, was able to take place, as the Hertford Theatre and cafe was flooded on the day itself (with a lot of firemen at work and the whole building closed to the public!)

A new venue close by was quickly sought, and those attending were re-directed to it when they arrived for the event. Thank you to everyone for being so supportive of the situation, especially in light of the fact that January's event, on being motivated and focused for the new year, had to be deferred due to the snow. So this was now the first event of 2013!

The European Directive which was agreed in March 2011 is due to come into practice on 21st December 2012 and will make it unlawful for any insurance provider to differentiate policies or costs on the basis of sex. This means that previous reductions in premiums based on gender will no longer be acceptable and the price of specific insurance policies could dramatically increase... Read More »

under Money Saving Tips

Is your To-Do list getting out of hand? Do you want to save money and avoid stress? Then why not have a 'Power Day'? Write down your ten most hated tasks, set aside half a day, or even just a couple of hours – AND GET THEM DONE! Today is going to be my 'Power Day'. Here is a list of the 10 things I'm going to tackle and why getting them done will save me money, time and stress:

1. Tax Return
: It has got to be No. 1 on my list of horrors! I have to dig out my list of log-ins for the HMRC website, find all those dull bits of paper that I've (hopefully) shoved in the creaking at the seams 'tax' folder and scrabble around for dog-eared receipts... Read More »

Review of Scentsy: The Products and the Opportunity

By

I was recently given some Scentsy products to try by Liz Barnes, who trades as www.Scenti-mental.scentsy.co.uk   If anyone reading has not heard of Scentsy yet, they are an American company which provides beautiful room scenters, in the form of wax heaters.  Basically it's like burning a scented candle or an oil burner, but without the fire hazard of the smoke pollution. The scent from the wax is very strong and long lasting.

I've always loved scented candles and candle products, but stopped using them once the children came along as I didn't feel safe. With two school age children and a new puppy in the house the idea of room scenters suddenly seems like a very good idea.  I have been aware of Scentsy for about two years now, and quite keen to give them a try...

The pressure of looking good in the office can be a chore at the best of times, and things can get even more complicated when you're carrying a baby bump! These days, many women carry on working into their sixth month of pregnancy and beyond, and if you plan to do this you'll want your maternity wardrobe to include office wear as well as casual clothing.

For the first three months of your pregnancy, you should be able to keep wearing your regular work wardrobe. After this time, however, you may enter what some affectionately term the "awkward zone" – when you're too big for regular clothing but not big enough for standard maternity wear. Thankfully, there are some tips and tricks (and a few choice items) that can help you through this difficult patch, including skirts and trousers with elasticated waistbands, or low-rise trousers that sit comfortably beneath your belly...
