I love going on holiday. I love going to exotic places and travelling the globe. The one thing I don't love is the flight; I just get so bored. You know what being bored leads to, don't you? Spending money!
Whenever I'm going away, I manage to blow most of my budget on the flight! Whether it's paying for headphones, buying drinks/food and shopping at the airport; somehow I'm always a few quid shorter upon landing.
So this time I thought I'd plan ahead. I've got two weeks in Fuerteventura this summer and I really don't want to waste my spending money just getting there. However, with four or five hours to kill, I know I'm going to have to try hard.

I bet Michael Eavis and the production team behind Glastonbury are feeling very smug about the fact this year was a year off for the UK's biggest music festival. Imagine the carnage that would have ensued with hundreds of thousands of 'revellers' heading to the iconic festival?
But while 'Glasto' had a lucky escape, the UK weather has meant
festivals across the country have been cancelled, leaving some very
bored and unhappy people left wondering what to do with their time. But
it's not just the time and the fun you miss out on, it's the expense of
the whole thing that can cause a headache. Festivals in the UK are
expensive and getting a refund on your tickets can be a painful process.
That's why I am advocating spending a little bit more to get a
significant saving and boost to your summer fun.
If I was young
enough to want to party the night away, sleep in a tent and indulge in
everything else that comes with a festival here are the top five I would
look at attending to combine revelry and a summer holiday at the same
time:

How to survive a family holiday!
Holidays with the
whole family in tow can be a tumultuous affair if not planned properly.
Balancing the needs of energetic toddlers with those of sulky teenagers, while
still managing to squeeze in some well deserved R & R, can seem like an
insurmountable challenge.
If you have
visions of a windswept beach and sangrias at noon, while the rest of your
family equates the perfect break with non-stop activities, you may be heading
for a holiday meltdown. To avoid a family holiday dream turning into a holiday
nightmare, follow these handy tips.

On my travels there are certain items that I found indispensible, especially when heading to far flung destinations. Aside from having Ray Mears or Bear Grylls constantly at my side throughout my trip, my handy box of traveller tricks has seen me through upset stomachs, cultural misunderstandings and saved me from looking like a blow fish after one too many mosquito bites.

Anyone who has ever flown in an aeroplane before will understand the
frustration of sitting in a cramped cabin, between a snoring elderly
man and a large masculine looking woman with severe body odour. It
wouldn't be so bad if there was anything to take your mind off the
writhing child kicking the back of your chair but the headphones don't
quite cut out the volume and the back seat entertainment isn't enjoyable when you're constantly bouncing nearer then further with each kick.
If only you could access your phone to
call someone and complain about the flight but everyone knows you have to keep
all mobile devices turned off just in case it messes with the engines or something.

Italy may be on the brink of financial meltdown but it sure knows how to run a ski resort! I made it back from Italy in one piece with no broken bones, torn ligaments or nasty facial wounds. My long weekend in the Italian town of Gressoney was as predicted; mostly quiet in the evenings and with plenty of pretty extreme skiing during the day combined with some good food.
