The Jubilee is over and I am tempted to say, 'thank the Lord'. Don't get me wrong, the extended break was great fun (Scotland for the golf was epic by the way) and it was great to spend some quality time with the family etc but the three day week that followed was painfully busy.

Now I know we are meant to talk about ways to save money on this blog and not promote irresponsible spending but I reckon we have to allow ourselves the freedom to have a bit of fun every now and again. After all, with all the savings we've made so far this year, we have to do something with our cash and what better way to spend it than to have the odd cheeky flutter?

Having only been around for just over 20 years, it might seem strange initially to nominate such a young company for the title of Brand of the Week. However, the impact that Paddy Power has had in that relatively short time merits their place in our illustrious list.

As I sit at my desk and look out the window, normal service has resumed. The rain is lashing down and more severe weather warnings have been issued than Premiership footballers take out injunctions. But last night was different; the sun was shining and cricket fans in London flooded (sorry about that pun) into the Oval for the Friends Life T2O game between Surrey and Kent. Luckily for me I was there too, but not part of the masses – no, no – I was there as a guest of Webgains in a corporate box. A mighty fine way to spend an evening, if I do say so myself.

For those of you who don't know, I should probably begin this post by informing you that I am one member of a small band. My role within the dynamic is rhythm guitarist and feedback creator – I seem to have a knack for producing this sound regardless of what instrument or amp I use.
This week has seen another onslaught of new material arrive, meaning that once again I am required to invest some time listening to the same track on repeat whilst reading tab. Getting to grips with new material is one of the trickiest things for any musician or band member because it requires patience and, truth be told, can often be quite frustrating.
