Italy may be on the brink of financial meltdown but it sure knows how to run a ski resort! I made it back from Italy in one piece with no broken bones, torn ligaments or nasty facial wounds. My long weekend in the Italian town of Gressoney was as predicted; mostly quiet in the evenings and with plenty of pretty extreme skiing during the day combined with some good food.
I spent the weekend in Dorset – in Studland to be specific –
and the weather and surroundings were truly spectacular. When the sun shines there can't be many more
wonderful sights in the world than England basking in all its glory - staking a
claim as the most beautiful place in the world in my opinion. But while the weekend and the vistas were
incredible, there was a nagging feeling at the back of my head that winter was
closing in and, as some readersmay know
already, that can have very negative consequences!
The only solution to this impending doom and gloom is to get
things in the diary and, specifically, get a skiing holiday planned.Skiing is something I love doing; I love the
fact you are out exploring, I love the mountains and I love the views. If anything can beat the Jurassic coast of
England, it's the Alps, the Pyrenees or the Rockies!
Okay, so this isn't necessarily a guide by or for robots but the
video with its funky robot skier and weird musical medley, is cool.
We just want to make sure that the skiing robots out there don't
feel left out.
As we rapidly move towards winter, expectations amongst
dedicated human and robot skiers alike start to rise. When will the
snow come? Which mountains will be best? Will it snow at all?
Where's my oil?
These are questions best answered by the snow
report professionals so I will leave you to hunt down the best
conditions and make your own choice of destination. However, if you
would rather just jump right in and get the best price on any
resort, check out our ski and snow
deals section for some inspiration.
Once you've figured out where you would like to go, it's time to
get down to the nuts and bolts (ahem..) i.e. how much will this
cost me? This is where we at Savoo come in. Here are some great
places to begin on your search for the very best deals on all
things ski and snowboarding.
This time next month I will be in Barbados soaking up the sun and spending my well-earned pennies on pina coladas by the pool.
Hopefully you are lucky enough to be going away on a winter sun trip or you're just thinking ahead for your summer break but, either way, I'm sure you will want to make the most of your holiday spending money.
There are a few top tips that I can share with you to help you get the cheapest holiday money:
As children get older it can be difficult to keep them entertained whilst on holiday. Finding family holidays appropriate for teenagers is therefore an easy way to ensure that your holidays are always enjoyable.
The last holiday photo album that graced my shelves was of an inter-railing trip around Europe with my band of friends in the summer of 1998.
With a few disposable cameras in tow I got seriously snap happy as we traversed our way through European capitals including Prague and Budapest and lesser-known stretches of the continent such as San Remo in Italy – God knows how that one slipped onto our holiday itinerary.
The less than A-grade photo collection chronicled dodgy summer fashion choices, nights out that we'd rather forget and our numerous dalliances with cultural attractions including trudging our way through one basilica too many.
