Editor's note; Our bloggers have covered the recent news stories surrounding first the HP tablet and now the Amazon tablet but not everyone is completely 'tablet savvy' or necessarily as enthralled with them, so here's a different side to all the current buzz.
No, I'm not asking for medicinal recommendations (although perhaps I should) but I am, of course, referring to the new phenomenon of the technological age: the computer Tablet. While most, if not all, of my friends have invested in these devices I have remained firmly in the "I don't need one" camp but is this true?

Money Saving Tips
With so much focus on finances at the moment, finding the money to upgrade gadgets can be particularly difficult. Unfortunately though, many of our most commonly used (and most needed) possessions become noticeably slower in performance as time passes. This usually means that we have to upgrade them and have little choice but to spend money.

I can't recall if I've stated this before but I've generally found tablet computers unnecessary, especially if you've got a smartphone. For the most part, anything you can do on a tablet, you can do better on a laptop computer and anything else can probably be done by your phone. Tablets, frankly, seem to fill a niche that nobody had really asked for in the first place.

Like the iPad before it, the Samsung Galaxy Tab has been generating a considerable amount of buzz among tech savvy consumers as well as the press. The Samsung Galaxy S phones have been by and large a huge hit and the same was largely expected of the Android powered Galaxy Tab. After all, the 7" tablet comes fully equipped with a 1GHz processor, both a front-facing 1.3 MP camera as well as a rear facing 3MP camera, 3G capability as well as WiFi, and full HD video playback. All of this sounds fantastic, until you get to the price – apparently,
Amazon is asking for an absurd £799 for the cheapest model. What the what?

Although the majority of the talk surrounding
Apple as of late has been centred on the iPhone 4's various antenna issues, the company was, at least for a day, allowed a bit of reprieve from the public as they handed out free t-shirts to customers on August 7th. At the company's new flagship store in Covent Garden, London, thousands of people stood in queue to be among the select few who would receive a shirt commemorating the store's opening date and location.
