I’ll start with a few reassuring words. Chocolate is scientifically proven to help increase motivation levels because it triggers an increase in serotonin and the release of dopamine in our brains, which makes us happy.
That’s an actual fact just in case there are any non-believers out there.
And when do most of us need a little motivation? Well today of course.
So to help get you through the day with a promise of better things to come this evening, we’ve found 5 sensational ways for you to reward your Monday achievements with chocolate.
NB: A Monday achievement = you made Monday.
- Hot chocolate
We may have been promised sunshine this week but there’s no doubt it’s getting cooler out there. We think it’s time to indulge in some seriously chocolaty hot chocolate, Italian style.
Italian hot chocolate is renowned for being rich, thick and decadent – more like a dessert than a drink. And we’ve found an amazing recipe based on just 4 ingredients that takes less than 5 minutes to make from Paula Jones at bell’alimento.
Paula’s top tip: “to get that rich flavour be sure to use the highest quality chocolate you can find. It does make a difference.”
We love the Dark Chocolate range from Hotel Chocolat. And if you can wait a day or two for delivery, you could save up to 50% on your order by using a Hotel Chocolat voucher code. We prefer to look at it as ‘you could buy twice as much for the same price’.
And if you’re ordering in hot chocolate supplies for the office or want a quick cheat, check out these luxurious drinking chocolates.
- David Lebovitz’s Chocolate Orbit Cake with Blackberry-Cassis Sauce
This no-nonsense chocolate dessert is super rich and delectably moist brownie made with no flour, and I found the recipe on the aptly named dessertsforbreakfast.com website. I’m certainly a believer in desserts for breakfast and I know what I’ll be having tomorrow morning.
- Flourless Chocolate and Peanut Butter Brownies
What it is about the word flourless that instantly has us lusting after dense, rich puds? These fudgy peanut butter-chocolate delights are so quick and easy that, as citrus and candy put it; “even drowsy monkeys can do it.”
Close off your Monday as, and with, a beautiful mess. You drowsy monkeys you.
- Chocolate Avocado Pudding
A strange one but I’ve noticed that the avocado seems to be making a bit of a comeback. And considering we’ve established that chocolate is scientifically ‘good for the soul’, why not mix the two together?
And as the clever and creative foodies at how sweet it is state: “the moral of the story is that everything (especially Monday) is better with chocolate.”
- The sofa bar
This is perhaps my favourite chocolate idea and one that really seems to hit the spot at the end of every tiresome Monday.
The sofa bar can be achieved with great ease simply by following these three steps:
- Visit reputable chocolatier and purchase a large bar (preferably slab) of high quality white, milk or dark chocolate.
- Go home.
- Run in the door, catapult ‘self’ onto sofa and enjoy. Best served with favourite (rubbish) TV programme.
The ‘sit on your sofa and just go for it’ approach is a firm favourite of mine but it’s your prerogative to choose the Monday Motivation Chocolate Exploration that best suits you.
We hope we’ve been of assistance Monday Musketeers. Enjoy!
