Product reviewed by Simon Bird; family man and newfangled lawnmower fan living in South London.
With the weather having made such a remarkable turnaround within a mere matter of days I couldn’t have needed a lawnmower more. Before this week, my garden looked like a jungle and my heavily pregnant wife and young daughter were not impressed at the thought of having an indoor weekend during our 27 degree heatwave, so it was all hands on deck – or lawnmowers on grass, as it were.
And so I did as any busy man in need of something fast would – I hit the internet for a high quality, reasonably priced and quickly delivered lawnmower, and that’s where my Gtech experience began. I also ideally wanted a lawnmower that was cordless as I found my corded lawnmower a hassle and a little unsafe.
My Gtech Cordless Lawnmower arrived the very next day in a neat little package – a grown up toy just waiting to be played with (a thought my daughter shared also, as you’ll soon see!).
Assembling the lawn mower
I was really impressed by how easy the lawnmower was to assemble; there was no need to screw parts together or play around with fiddly mechanisms – the lawnmower came in three pieces that simply clicked together and the manual was as easy to follow as the lawnmower was to assemble.
After 5 minutes of assembly (and a further 5 minutes looking for my daughter who – naturally – was hiding in the box) I was almost ready to take my new lawnmower outside and set off to tackle London’s answer to the Amazon jungle. Here it is in all its glory…
I think my 19 month old daughter was as taken with this colourful and funky device as I was – here she is refusing to let me take it outside (it is battery-less at this point and is therefore safe!) and instead converting my new lawnmower into a dolls pram!
Once I’d wrangled the mower off of my daughter it was time to get serious and see what the Gtech Falcon Cordless Lawn mower could do.
Getting ready to mow
I clicked on the back grass catcher and set the lawn height – ready for business. I really liked how easy and slick these features were.
I was amazed at how light and compact the battery was. It arrived half charged and took 2 hours to charge fully, and you’re guaranteed a cordless operating time of 40 minutes – plenty of time to tackle even the unruliest of gardens!
With not a daughter in sight I was ready to dart for the door and get going with my mowing!
Once in my garden, I clicked in the battery (really easily to do) and extended the lawn mower handle fully, which you need to do in order for it to start. You then press the green button and safely handle the bar to operate.
Do make sure that you only insert the battery once you’re outside and the coast is clear (no daughters, dolls or animals nearby!).
The lawn mower was super lightweight and easy to manoeuvre, and the fact that it’s cordless doesn’t just make it easier to use, it makes it safer too.
I was amazed at how much grass it holds! I used to have to empty my old lawn mower twice to mow my garden but I only had to empty the Gtech Falcon once at the end – plus its easy to empty as all you need to do is lower the bar which releases the grass catcher.
Here I am in action!
The Gtech Falcon is a seriously nice lawnmower that was easy to assemble, easy to use and made my grass look great.
The key benefits worth noting from my point of view are:
- Cordless (so a lot safer)
- Holds more grass and handle down means fast grass emptying
- Being cordless allowed me to get the job done a lot quicker – I mowed the lawn in about 8 mins vs 15 mins previously with a corded mower
- I get at least 4 uses in on one charge
- Safe – not worried about the little one being able to start it
If I were to score the Gtech Falcon Lawnmower, I’d definitely give it a 10/10 and would highly recommend to friends, family and colleagues.

Our Competition Winner
We were thrilled to be able to send our recent competition winner, Jason Credidio, a brand new Gtech Falcon Lawnmower to say congrats. Jason told us that the most attractive feature of this Gtech Falcon was that it was cordless and therefore quicker and safer to use.
Here’s Jason looking pretty chuffed with his prize…
Thanks for sharing Jason and enjoy!
