Christmas seems to arrive earlier each year doesn’t it? Not that I’m complaining…
Nowadays, November triggers the start of Christmas light switch-on’s throughout London, talk of work Christmas parties, and subsequently, thoughts about what we’re going to wear and feel great in throughout the festive season.
My number one tip for sailing graciously through the million-and-one social events that are bound to be coming your way is to find one, incredible staple outfit that will be suitable for every occasion.
I’ve been in touch with fashion brand Little Mistress to see what their party collection has to offer.
Introducing the little black jumpsuit
One style stands out this season and for me, that’s the little black jumpsuit. It’s such a refreshing alternative to your typical cocktail dress.
Flattering, forgiving, elegant, stylish and classy are all valid reasons for investing in one to carry you through 2016’s festivities.
But a little black jumpsuit has simply GOT to be great quality – not to mention the right material – and it has to fit and skim the right areas to prevent you looking like you’ve borrowed a boiler suit from your mechanic (trust me – I’ve been there).
Little Mistress has an incredible range of jumpsuits so I urge you to check out their full New In collection at some point; but for me, the Black Plunge Ruffle Jumpsuit stood out a mile and instantly jumped to position one on my Christmas outfit lust list.
Here’s how it looks online.
It arrived within a couple of days and I couldn’t wait to get it on.
I was instantly impressed by the quality of the jumpsuit. It’s really heavy and the material is thick and great quality, meaning it’s unlikely to cling in the wrong places (winning).
I could clearly see that the embellished waistband was hand sewed with a beautiful, intricate design.
The jumpsuit looks and feels really special.
I was pleasantly surprised to find that although it had been folded and posted, the jumpsuit barely needed ironing and after leaving it hanging up for 24 hours, I found I didn’t need to iron it at all. It’s so heavy that any creases just fell out.
Trying it on
Jumpsuits can be a real pain to get on and off but I’m thrilled to say that this wasn’t the case with this particular one. There is a zip at the back and a button at the top but neither was fiddly or got stuck. No danger of any embarrassing ‘getting stuck in the loo at a party’ moments here.
The outfit is really comfortable and could work with either flat shoes or heels. It is a little bustier than I’d initially thought but with the rest of me being completely covered I figure it’s just the right amount of sass!
I’m 5’6″ in height and wearing a size 10.
I’m definitely planning to mix up this outfit with both heels and flats; and because the jumpsuit is black you’ve got free reign to add shoes of any colour or style. Just make sure you choose a clutch bag to match, of course. I’m inclined to believe the glitzier the better around Christmas time!
I felt completely comfortable in the little black jumpsuit – both standing and when sitting down. It was the perfect length for my height, and the ruffles and embellished waist added class and detail to an otherwise simple outfit.
I’d feel comfortable wearing this outfit to a dinner or a party. It’s nipped in at the waist but not too tight and I definitely felt like I could move around in it freely.
This little black jumpsuit from Little Mistress is most definitely my number one choice of Autumn / Winter outfit, and I’m planning to wear it to a number of Christmas occasions. I’ll make the outfit look different by wearing my hair up one time and down the next, and by accompanying the outfit with different accessories and different coloured shoes and bags.
At £70, this outfit is well worth its price and actually looks more expensive than it is.
I managed to save money with a 10% off discount code which is still available, but if you miss this one it is worth keep an eye out for some of the fantastic free delivery vouchers you can find with Little Mistress discounts at Savoo.
