London Fashion Week Highlights

London Fashion Week has officially landed and as we hit day four of the five days of runway shows, late night parties and exclusive events, we take a look at some of the highlights and upcoming trends for spring/summer 2016.

This year, London Fashion Week moved from the beautiful Somerset House to a West End car park. Could you get any more ‘London’ than that?!

On Friday 18th September, Fashionistas headed to Soho’s multi-storey car park on Brewer Street for a truly ‘urban’ London experience that encapsulates the excitement and energy famed for fuelling creativity amongst designers and artists based in our unique and vibrant city.

An altogether grungier view of British fashion culture has dominated the catwalk so far.

Paul Smith – known for combining tradition and modernity with pattern and colour, showcased a classically understated and edgy collection that we could imagine seeing amongst us ‘real people’ frequenting the London scene.

We’ve seen leopard print emerging as a strong contender as a top trend for next season; embraced by Alexa Chung wearing Shrimps (by Soho based designer Hannah Weiland) below. But you don’t have to pay the designer price tag to wear the latest trends. We’ve spotted this fab New Look replica currently on sale for just £25!

Topshop and Hill & Friends have also indicated that leopard print could be a roaring success next year (sorry, couldn’t resist) and both brands have given a nod to 80s party girl style with Hill & Friends hot pink animal print handbags, and Topshop’s sparkly earrings, scrunchy perms and blazers worn over party dresses.

Legendary Brit designer, Julien MacDonald, continues to wow with his unique red carpet gowns and embellished styles, but his latest collections come with a new twist – apparently inspired by his recent trip to Bali. Think glamour with an earthy and ethnic edge.
