#MHAW: Make time for self-care with Feelunique and Mind + WIN Hello Sunshine Beauty Box

win mental health awareness week beauty box

In the UK alone, one in six people say they’ve experienced mental health issues such as anxiety or depression in any given week. Each year, one in four of us will experience a mental health problem. Worries about our careers, money and relationships mean that many of us put a lot of pressure on ourselves which can mean looking after our mental wellbeing gets put at the bottom of the list.

But it’s vital for us all to take care of our mental health by putting aside the time to check in, reboot and refresh. For this Mental Health Awareness Week, Feelunique has teamed up with the mental health charity Mind to encourage everyone to keep track of their mental health, take some time out to relax and focus on your own wellbeing.

Give yourself a break

One great way to check in with your mental health is to take some time each week, whether it’s an evening or even just an hour, to pamper yourself. As wellbeing expert Peggie Temple from Instash tells us:

“People underestimate the power of a night in. Taking time to pamper yourself is a great way of enhancing self-love. We often spend so much time pleasing others and completing time-sensitive tasks that we can’t even remember the last time we took time for ourselves. Designate one day a week where you will practise some self-care.”

To help you get started on your journey to relaxation and learning to love the skin you’re in, we’ve put together a list of our favourite goodies from Feelunique. Treat yourself for less with Savoo’s exclusive Sephora discount code, offering an amazing 15% off all orders over £40.

Every time you use this code, we’ll be donating an extra 3% commission to Mind, as well as double donations to all our top mental health charities for Mental Health Awareness Week. That means the more you use our voucher codes to save, the more you’re helping to promote mental health awareness, all without spending an extra penny.

Plus, Feelunique is offering a fabulous Hello Sunshine gift box for one lucky winner, worth £81.78, to get you ready for your big night in! Find out how you can win at the end of the post.

So take some time for yourself and celebrate what you love about you by indulging in a pampering night in, all while helping mental health charities across the UK. Here are just a few products we recommend you give a go while you take a much-deserved break:

As a busy mum, my self care treat would be curling up on the sofa with a hot chocolate (marshmallows and all!) and a good book, it’s a rarity as there’s always something that needs doing, but it really is the little things 🙂 sometimes you can spend so long taking care of everyone else that you forget you matter too

For me it’s all about some quiet time. I don’t get chance much with two young children but I love to run a hot bath filled with bubbles, put some candles on, have a steaming hot mug of vimto and get a good book on the go. Just shutting the world out for an hour is good for the soul!

It’s the simple things but having something that is just mine really improves my mental wellbeing.

I love to paint my nails whilst watching a trashy tv show to relax and have me time 🙂

When I am feeling stressed I put my earpods on and head out for a walk. It regulates my breathing and listening to music helps me switch off

My best days are when I get to train on the Aerial Hoop with my pals, we absolutely hoot with laughter and joy, I don’t even realise I’m exercising because of the fun and friendship. Then there is nothing better than coming home to soak sore muscles in the bath. This is the best self care I can give myself.

A lovely walk with the dog in the fresh air in beautiful countryside is always good for the soul, then I really love a cold glass of wine in my garden whilst soaking my feet afterwards!

I look forward to coming home from work and having a nice long bath using my favourite Elemis products. I normally have my essential oils burning away to help calm the mind and to ‘switch off’ along with some nice music and I drift away to somewhere else. Perfect.

Going to the gym is my favourite self care treat. I started going to the gym 6 months ago and now it is part of my daily routine. It’s really helped me not only mentally, but physically too. It’s made me realise I have the ability to take on new hurdles, and overcome them. It really makes me smile and it’s my ‘me time’ which I’ve now realised was severely lacking in my life!

I love bath with epsom salt, hair mask and face mask are great too. Sometimes i like to read a book but there are days when i just enjoy bathtime. It is great not to be in a hurry, feeling warm water on my skin, relaxing and enjoying me time. For me being alone in bathroom is luxury! Now when my kids are older they let me have my bathtime in piece but my cat thinks otherwise she is always there watching!…

During the day I like to go for a walk in the countryside to clear my mind. At night I like to relax in a nice warm bubble bath with scented candles and spa music.

I was introduced to meditation at the Bereavement Therapy Unit that I go to at the Hospice. I play an app through You Tube which really relaxes me. Before listening to this I usually do Pilates to a DVD I had bought at Christmas. Doing both these de-stresses me. For a pamper night I have a bubble bath, do a face mask and then relax in my PJs with a bottle of something and a chocolate treat whilst catching up with TV

I like a good old home remedy face mask and a nice relaxing soak in the bath, that is tranquil.
