Did you know...
Thanks to ALEH, Israel's disabled children are able to live in much the same way as nondisabled children. They attend school, participate in vocational programs, and enjoy activities such as swimming at the beach or touring Israel’s beautiful sites. In its efforts to change common attitudes and create a more caring and inclusive society in Israel, ALEH has developed numerous Tikkun Olam programs involving families, schoolchildren, university students, the IDF, and hundreds of volunteers both in Israel and abroad
What makes ALEH different
ALEH is Israel’s foremost network of state-of-the-art residential facilities for children with severe intellectual, developmental and physical disabilities. ALEH’s four residential facilities, located in Jerusalem, Bnei Brak, Gedera, and the Negev, provide over 700 children and young adults with all the specialized services they need to live a quality life: residential living, medical care, rehabilitative and therapeutic treatment, special education, vocational training opportunities, and social and cultural activities. ALEH is their home and their family – 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. In addition, ALEH provides thousands of outpatient sessions to children with milder disabilities who are able to live at home.
Thanks to ALEH, these children are able to live in much the same way as non-disabled children: attending school, participating in vocational training programs, and enjoying activities such as swimming at the beach or touring the countryside. Integration programs involving family, volunteers, school children and IDF soldiers promote acceptance of the disabled within the community at large.
