Did you know...

The hedgehog is the most common mammal rescued. The charity was set up by founder Trevor Weeks MBE in 1996. WRAS won the ITV1 British Animal Honours Local Animal Charity of the Year 2013. WRAS receives over 3000 calls a year. Their rescue line operates 24 hours a day 365 days a year. The charity only have 3 full-time members of staff who are only paid minimum wage to ensure as much money goes to helping the casualties as possible.

What makes WRAS different

WRAS has always aimed to provide the best possible quality of care and attention to its casualties and its hospital is now registered with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons as a Veterinary Premise. Unlike most wildlife rescue organisations we attend over 90% of our casualties out on site to start the rescue and first aid work as soon as possible.

Other ways to support

We are always interested in people volunteering with our charity, helping to feed and clean casualties and their cages, undertake rescue work, helping with fundraising and events as well as working on our reception.
