Our mission is to become a centre of excellence for animal care through education, support and rehoming.

Did you know...

• Ferne Animal Sanctuary was founded at the beginning of World War II, initially to look after the pets of service men and women leaving to fight for their country.

• Ferne has around 300 resident pets and farm animals ranging from horses to chipmunks, poultry and aviary birds.

• Cats, dogs and horses are rehomed within a 40 mile radius of the Sanctuary taking in most of three counties, Somerset, Devon and Dorset. All other animals live out their lives at the Sanctuary.

• Overlooking the beautiful Blackdown Hills, the Sanctuary also has a farmhouse café, nature trail and pond walk.

What makes Ferne Animal Sanctuary different

Ferne Animal Sanctuary cares about both animals and their owners and, when rehoming, aims to find the perfect match for both parties. Support does not stop at adoption and the Sanctuary is always there to give advice throughout the animal’s life if required.

Other ways to support
