Home-Start Elmbridge wants to see a society in which every parent has the support they need to give their children the best possible start in life. The early years of a child's life are vital for their development. This is why early intervention is so important and can greatly reduce the risks of both the short-term and long-term effects on these children.

Children who are raised in a stable, loving, family environment are more likely to have a positive and healthy future. We get involved from the first years of a child’s life to try to catch the problems early, stop them from deteriorating and where possible prevent them from happening in the first place.

Did you know...

We have supported families in Elmbridge since 2000 reaching families that have experienced a wide range of disadvantages such as illness, physical or learning disabilities, behavioural issues and poor emotional health. We have supported children living in lone parent families and also those where the parents are struggling to cope for a variety of reasons, including low income, poverty and debt, unsuitable housing, social isolation and substance or alcohol misuse.

What makes Home-Start Elmbridge different

Our volunteers are fundamental to how we function. As parents themselves, our volunteers understand and identify the difficulties and pressures of bringing up children. Each volunteer brings with them a unique combination of life experience, compassion and enthusiasm to their role and makes Home-Start Elmbridge special.

We value their commitment highly and aspire to give them a truly rewarding volunteering experience.
