MACS are the UK’s largest charity for children born without eyes or with underdeveloped eyes caused by MAC conditions (Microphthalmia, Anophthalmia and/or Coloboma). MAC conditions account for over a quarter of cases of childhood blindness and visual impairment and we are there to support anyone affected and their families

Did you know...

  • 90 children are born in the UK each year without eyes or with underdeveloped eyes. Frequently, the parents only discover that their child is affected after birth - this can be a devastating shock, leaving them feeling scared and alone.

  • But they are not alone – we are here to help. 89% of our parents of MACS children said MACS made them feel less alone in difficult times and 91% said we help them to cope with their child's condition

  • We support our 1500 members by providing emotional support, financial assistance, peer support and confidence building activity holidays.

Their fundamental pledge

Our vision is a world where all people affected by MACS conditions enjoy the same opportunities as everyone else.

Our mission is to become the leading authority on MACS conditions and to provide comfort and support to people impacted by them.

The core values of the MACS community are:

  • Offering acceptance and inspiring trust

  • Giving support

  • Providing opportunity
