Variety’s mission is that children should have more great days and positive experiences by providing the independence, freedom and dignity that enables them to make the most of their childhood.

We exist to improve young lives every day. We do this by providing bespoke practical help, funding specialist equipment, wheelchairs and coaches, and also through creating memorable experiences for children who are sick, disabled or disadvantaged. We aim to build the self-esteem of children who are disadvantaged and help them realise their potential.

Did you know

Variety was started in 1949 with a dinner at The Savoy attended by film stars, producers, agents and celebrities, all eager to freely donate their time and talent to help raise funds for children.

Since then, more than £270 million has been raised by Variety in the UK; funding 5,000+ Sunshine Coaches, almost the same number of wheelchairs some donated to young people who went on to represent Team GB at the Rio Paralympics.

Each year tens of thousands of children are taken on great days out by our wonderful Variety Great Days Out team.

What makes Variety Scotland different

Variety’s roots are in show business and entertainment. Every child deserves to be able to share in the spirit of show business by having fun and unforgettable memories as part of their everyday lives:

“William now has the freedom to choose when to play and what to play with",

“Aimee can be like everyone else at bath time, now she spends lots of time splashing about with her toys, her Jacuzzi bubbles, lights and music",

“This is the first time, I have been able to do what every child can do…look my parents in the eyes".

Recycling - All shoes, in any conditions are accepted at 7,000 Variety shoe recycling banks throughout the UK.

Our recycling partners, the European Recycling Company and Clover Environmental Solutions, make a donation to Variety for the items recycled.

Corporate partners - What’s special about supporting Variety is we keep our supporters informed about the children that are benefiting from their support. Partners can see the impact that their support for Variety has on the lives of children and young people.
