One woman dies in the UK from ovarian cancer every two hours. In fact, other cancers, such as breast cancer, had better survival rates 50 years ago than ovarian cancer actually does today. Ovarian Cancer Action main goals are awareness raising and scientific research. The charity campaigns to improve the understanding of symptoms among the public and with GPs.
The biggest impact, though, comes from their main area of focus: scientific research. Since 2006, it has funded many research projects, opened a pioneering Ovarian Cancer Action Research Centre, and continued to run the International Forum on Ovarian Cancer, which brings together the world’s leading scientists to share knowledge and determine priorities. Now, Ovarian Cancer Action is taking action to fund the next generation of research.
