Support Stroke Association with Savoo

Approximately 100,000 people in the UK have strokes each year. Stroke is an attack on the brain resulting from blood vessels in the brain becoming blocked or bursting.

Without the necessary blood flow, brain cells start to die, resulting in permanent damage and debilitating effects. Speech, sight and movement are likely to become impaired, and recovery is slow. Sadly, research suggests stroke is responsible for 35,000 deaths annually. That's a life lost every 17 minutes!

Please help us raise awareness and funds for the Stroke Association, a charity dedicated to improving the lives of stroke survivors and their families, simply by redeeming a deal on Savoo before 12th May.

What is Stroke Awareness Month?

Stroke Awareness Month has a history dating back to 1989, but the fight to raise public awareness and educate the public about the warning signs and symptoms of stroke stretches back much further. Stroke Awareness Month is an opportunity to spotlight a critical health issue that affects millions globally.

Last year's campaign by the Stroke Association focused on Aphasia, an ongoing condition that frequently results from Stoke and robs survivors of their ability to do everyday tasks. Stroke Awareness Month 2024 will continue focusing on stroke research and recovery issues.

Awareness is the best defence when it comes to stroke. Understanding the signs and symptoms of stroke allows us to act swiftly and decisively when it strikes, something that can prevent irreversible damage and save lives. Identifying a stroke is easier when remembering the FAST acronym - Face, Arms, Speech and Time.

If you're a stroke survivor who needs support or you want further information about the condition, you can find out more from the Stroke Association.

About the Stroke Association

The Stroke Association has been a beacon of stroke support for over 25 years. The charity plays a crucial role in the well-being of stroke survivors and their families, ensuring those affected receive the care and support they deserve.

It's a staggering fact that somebody in the UK has a stroke every five minutes. The Stroke Association provides specialist support, conducts research, and campaigns for the stroke community. Recovery is unique to each individual, but the road to a better life can be slow, often with life-changing consequences for the person and those around them.

The root causes of stroke are complex and varied, but prevention is among the tools that the Stroke Association uses to raise awareness of the condition. Evidence suggests that lifestyle changes may prevent strokes or reduce their severity, including stopping smoking, being more active, consuming less alcohol and sticking to a healthy diet.

Thousands call their dedicated helpline and engage with the online community each year. You can raise more money for the Stroke Association by creating a Savoo account and setting the Stroke Association as your chosen charity. Then, every time you claim a deal on your online shopping at Savoo, free donations will be made.
