When rifling through the spectacular offerings at vintage fashion store Reign on Oxford's Cowley Road, I realised that the once definitive boundaries between style and savings have now been conveniently blurred and that a limited budget was no barrier to achieving top to toe glamour. From a silver dress that invoked the glory days of the 1920s flapper, to the baby pink pleated skirt and cream cardi combo that screams tennis chic, every outfit du mode is yours for the taking at prices that would put the high street to shame.
Delving into the depths of your wash basket in the hope last year's item
of the moment will make a timely reappearance is not something any of
us want to admit doing and, thankfully, there are a number of creative
ways to upgrade your
fashion status to 'catwalk cool'. Here's how:

Whether you are walking down your local high street, having a lazy Sunday brunch with the girls or just people-watching from your favourite local haunt, the opportunities to add to your bank of fashion ideas are numerous. From the friend who 'glams' up a Primark dress with a statement belt to the bold fashionista who creates a mock pair of Louboutins by painting the base of her sky-high heels in China red, the possibilities are endless.
While many are happy to divulge their style secrets to keep the fashion
police at bay, others keep their fashion cards close to their chest so
that they can hold on to the best dressed crown for a few months longer.
A
new survey has revealed that a third of British women keep quiet about
the best place to seek out stylish fashion bargains online.

By The Man About Town
There are lots of 'mantras' that can help guide you through the greatest Olympic event of all – namely, life. "Look after the pennies and the pounds look after themselves" is one. "Never look a gift horse in the mouth" is another – you get where I'm coming from. But one you might not have heard of is, "if there are two things you should spend money on in life it's shoes and beds because if you're not in one, you're in the other." I've always liked that one and have to confess to being the Imelda Marcos of the male world.
I have a load of shoes (most of which I need to take to the charity
shop) and I enjoy making those purchases. The bed part isn't so much
fun. But that changed this weekend as I looked to update my bed, to make
it a place of rest and blissful comfort.

Money Saving Tips
Thanks to the increase in statement shoes over the last couple years we've come to a fun place with ladies' footwear. I, for one, am thrilled with the variety of options that have come out this season. Though always an important part of any outfit, shoes, like all things go through highs and lows when it comes to appearance and design - and I'm not talking about the heels! Thankfully we are marching along towards a summer season filled with bright colours, whimsical design and strong choices.

I went to my very first concert last week. I know what you must be thinking. How did I manage to wait until the ripe old age of twenty-three to attend my first concert?
The thing is, I've never loved a band or musician quite enough to dish
out the money to see them. Well, possibly the Spice Girls back in their
prime but my parents were wise enough to not let a pre-teen girl see
them live. However, my husband has been wanting to go to a concert ever
since I met him and I've always told him that it was too expensive. Of
course, eight years later I decided to go to a concert with a mate while
he was out of town. Bad wife!
Of course, it wasn't a conscious decision to go to my first concert with
the hubby! In fact, it was all very last minute. Just a few days before
the concert, a friend begged me to go with her as I was the only one
who had ever heard of this band before and she didn't want to go by
herself.

Special Events
Two of my favourite trends in footwear this season are the ongoing stomp of the boot and the return of mannish shoes on the stems of a lady. While there are many wonderful heels to be had and you can be sure I will have them, these two trends are worth noting. Since I was a teen I have been a fan of boots so when they cycle back around to popularity I am always more than eager to increase my already impressive collection. Far away on the opposite end of this fashion spectrum is the boyish loafer. Ladies, don't stop at just his Thomas Pink shirt this year, feel free to steal his duckies as well. Not only are there many different varieties of these two styles of shoes to choose from, but the freedom to wear them with some unorthodox choices is highly recommended.
Oh how I love Cowboy Boots. In my life I have owned two pairs; a set
that was handed down to me from my sister and the most glorious pair of
beautiful brown and tan boots purchased while on holiday to the wild
American west. I was around 12 at the time, so we bought a pair of boots
that were two sizes too big allowing me maximum wear time before they
disappeared to the charity bin.
