Rosie's Rainbow Fund

Rosie’s Rainbow Fund recognises the physical, emotional, and spiritual impact that a child or young person’s serious or life-limiting illness or disability has on the individual child as well as on the family unit. We offer a multi-pronged approach to supporting children and families throughout every phase of coping with serious illness and disability in hospital, schools, & the community.

Did you know...

The inspiration behind our charity is a little girl named Rosie Mayling. Clever talented, kind, funny, mischievous, generous and exceptionally musical, Rosie was very concerned with taking action when something needed to be done—at 9 years of age, she wrote, directed, and staged a musical to raise funds for a young friend with Rhett Syndrome in need of a wheelchair. Rosie’s motto was “Don’t just talk about it, do it!"

In 2002 Rosie became ill and was diagnosed with vasculitis, tragically passing away in May 2003. During her treatment at The John Radcliffe Hospital, Rosie expressed a wish to raise money for the new children’s hospital and to help other children undergoing lengthy hospital stays. Though Rosie tragically did not live long enough to fulfil that desire, our charity works hard to “not just talk about it, but do it" in Rosie’s memory.

What makes Rosie's Rainbow Fund different

Rosie’s Rainbow Fund is a truly special charity, offering a unique combination of services and supports for seriously ill and special needs children and their families. Rosie’s Rainbow Fund offers music therapy sessions for seriously ill children at the John Radcliffe Children’s Hospital, Royal Berkshire Hospital, and Stoke Mandeville Hospital; provides special needs music classes at schools in Berks, Bucks, and Oxon; offers therapeutic aromatherapy massage and pastoral care for parent carers of seriously ill children in hospital; and provides bereavement counselling for parents who have lost a child. Beginning in 2017, we have been proud to launch our therapeutic paediatric aromatherapy massage and positive touch therapy programme for seriously ill children and premature babies at the John Radcliffe Children’s Hospital.
