What is National Growing for Wellbeing Week?

National Growing for Wellbeing Week, which will take place from June 3rd to 9th in 2024, is an annual celebration of gardening. The event was established by Life at No.27, a social enterprise organisation that provides mental health support to green-fingered people across the UK. Gardening has many therapeutic benefits, including spending time outdoors, destressing and becoming part of a community.

Spending time in gardens and green spaces strongly correlates with better physical, social, and mental health. Research by the RHS suggests that people who garden daily have well-being scores 6.6% higher, while stress levels are also 4.2% lower than those who don’t. And forget about gardening just being for specific age groups! More and more young adults are gaining a love for spending time planting and growing.

If you are not fortunate enough to have a garden, there are still ways to embrace National Growing for Wellbeing Week. From assisting elderly neighbours to maintain their outdoor spaces to community garden projects and allotments, you can acquire new skills and boost your mental health by spending time in the great outdoors.

About Butterfly Conservation

As the name suggests, Butterfly Conservation is a British charity devoted to saving butterflies, moths, and their habitats throughout the UK. The charity has a history stretching back to the 1960s, but despite the organisation's best efforts, there continues to be a stark decline in butterflies and moths. It’s a sad fact that 80% of butterflies have declined in abundance or distribution since 1976.

Butterfly Conservation manages over 30 nature reserves in England, Wales and Scotland, providing crucial havens for butterflies, moths and a wealth of other wildlife. Time is running out to prevent the extinction of some of the UK's most loved species. Thankfully, Butterfly Conservation has brought species back from the brink of extinction, and with the generous support of the public and businesses, they can do it again.

There are many ways to support Butterfly Conservation, including fundraising, volunteering and reporting sightings of certain species. Why not continue to support them by creating a Savoo account and choosing Butterfly Conservation as your charity? Then, when you claim a Savoo discount on your online shopping, they will earn more donations.
