Women’s Health Focus: Donate to Heart Research UK when Saving at Gym King and Bluebella
Savoo is shining a light on women’s health in May, and we would love you to join us. Heart disease remains one of the single biggest killers of women in the UK, claiming twice as many lives as breast cancer every year. Yet heart health is still too often seen as a men’s issue. We are teaming up with Heart Research UK to help change that narrative and raise funds for the charity.
From May 5th to 18th, Savoo will donate a percentage of retail revenue from organic sales generated from selected brands to Heart Research UK. It won’t cost you anything extra, but the impact is real and potentially lifesaving!

Putting women's health first
The month of May is an important time in the women's health calendar. Around the world, numerous events raise awareness of the unique health challenges women face. What makes women's health so urgent isn't just the statistics; it's the individual stories. Disappointingly, heart attacks in women are still more likely to be misdiagnosed. Conditions like endometriosis or polycystic ovary syndrome go undetected for years. Women's pain is more often dismissed or misunderstood.
Gender differences in heart diseases are significant. Research has found that women are less likely than men to recognise the symptoms of heart attack. This can mean they delay seeking medical help which reduces their chances of survival. Symptoms of a heart attack vary from person to person but may include: chest pain, pain from the jaw, neck, arms and back, feeling weak and/or lightheaded, sweating, shortness of breath, overwhelming anxiety, feeling nauseous or being sick.
Small but consistent actions like eating a balanced diet, staying active, managing stress, and avoiding smoking can dramatically reduce risk. Monitoring your blood pressure and cholesterol levels is just as important with heart disease. Regardless of gender, the good news is that heart disease is often preventable. According to Heart Research UK, up to 80% of premature heart disease can be prevented through simple lifestyle changes.
About Heart Research UK
Heart Research UK is a national charity that has been funded pioneering medical research into the prevention, treatment, and cure of heart disease since 1967. Its focus is both scientific and human, supporting innovation in cardiovascular science while also funding community projects that help everyday people live healthier lives. The charity's work spans prevention, treatment, and education, from investing in emerging scientists and surgical breakthroughs to running
healthy lifestyle programmes in schools and underserved communities.
Women’s health is the key focus of Heart Research UK’s HER Disease campaign. According to the charity, 23,000 die from coronary heart disease every year. Although a leading cause of death in women, heart disease often goes undiagnosed or misdiagnosed, partly because symptoms can look different in women than in men. This disparity means women are less likely to receive timely treatment and more likely to suffer long-term consequences or die prematurely.Heart Research UK's research has helped advance our understanding of heart transplants, congenital heart defects, and minimally invasive surgery. Just as importantly, the charity is committed to ensuring that those scientific advances are accessible to people in everyday life, not just those in labs or hospitals. One of its flagship initiatives is the Healthy Hearts grant programme, which funds local projects across the U.K. that promote healthier living, such as nutrition workshops, fitness initiatives, and cardiac rehabilitation support.
