Then don't forget to check out my article on how to look good on a budget for even more helpful hints on how to enhance your look without breaking the bank.

What Are the Top Fashion Accessory Trends for Summer 2025?

It's no secret that TikTok and Instagram have been key drivers of what’s trending, with viral fashion accessories dominating everything from beach day styling to everyday wear. With Tiktok having 1.1 billion monthly active users worldwide, it's no wonder that when a trend starts, it spreads quickly!

I've done the research and looked into some of the hottest accessory trends of summer 2025, so by the end of this blog you'll have a great idea of what you need to stay stylish all summer, with some handy tips and tricks to shop each look for less.

Claw Clips

Starting strong with hair accessories, we have claw clips! Claw clips are hands down one of the best low-maintenance accessories you could have this summer. They’re incredibly easy to style and they look cute with pretty much anything. Whether you’re throwing your hair up for a day at the beach or trying to stay cool on your morning commute, a claw clip is a cheap and easy way to elevate your style and add enhance the look of any outfit.

What's great is that they are so versatile, with so many different styles of clips out there. Flower claw clips have consistently been trending for the past few years, they definitely seem to be a summer staple and I don't think they're going away anytime soon! They come in a variety of colours and they're sold at a range of retailers. Amazon sell flower claw clips singularly for about £2.99, but I've also seen 6 piece multi-packs for £5.99, which work out at about £1 per piece. So in this case, it's actually better value for money to buy a multi-pack. Use an Amazon discount code from Savoo to save money on your order. The cheapest flower claw clips I've seen online have been from Temu, where a multi-pack of 6 flower claw clips in various sizes costs just £2.50, working out as just 41p per piece.

Whilst floral claw clips have been going strong the past few summers, this year alone we've seen a big rise in the summer-holiday themed claw clips, printed with designs like starfish, lobsters, sea horses, crabs and more! Accessorize sell these for around £5-£10 a piece, but you can definitely find cheaper items at Shein for between 80p and £3 for one, or even Primark which sells big claw clips for £1.50 and mini sets of 4 for between £3.50 and £4.

See it at Savoo!

As you can see, a few of us here at Savoo have been loving claw clips this summer and the above images show just a few hair accessories in our collection. We can definitely vouch for their affordability and for how easy they are to style!

If you're willing to stretch your budget and are looking for something a tad luxe, then Oliver Bonas have a gorgeous range of summer claw clips in a diverse range of designs, that will keep you stylish all summer! The cheapest I've seen has been £9 for one, going up to about £18 depending on the print and size. I'd recommend signing up the Oliver Bonas newsletter for money off your first order, or using an Oliver Bonas discount code from Savoo to save money on your next order.

The good thing about claw clips is you can use them across many different hairstyles to get good wear out of them, proving they are great value for money.

Woven Tote Bags

Next on the list of viral fashion accessories, we have woven tote bags. It's no secret that tote bags have been all the rage for the last few years. In fact, an article by Vogue explains that luxury totes by big-name brands such as The Row, Marc Jacobs and Bottega Veneta have been dominating the industry in recent years, with the hashtag 'Marc Jacobs tote bag' earning an incredible 86.5 million views on TikTok in 2023 alone!

Whilst leather and canvas tote bags have already had their moment in the limelight, we have definitely seen a rise in woven tote bags, with Vogue actually deeming them as "the accessory of the summer."

Marc Jacobs Tote Bag

Woven totes mostly tend to be made from 3 key materials:

  • Leather
  • Crochet
  • Raffia

So why is everyone loving the woven tote this summer? Well, they're a step up from canvas totes which are cheap and convenient enough for when you're out for the day running errands, but definitely not as sturdy as totes made from other materials, like leather. Canvas totes tend to show their wear and tear a lot quicker, whereas if you get a leather tote dirty, chances are you can just wipe it down. Leather totes are known for having a luxe feel and design but without the designer price tag, plus they're highly functional. Sturdy, practical and great for being on the go! Whether you're on a summers day out sporting a crochet tote, or you're looking for a new office bag that will survive the commute, totes are consistently proving to be the everyday staple bag.

I've done some research into three of the most viral luxury tote bags on the market right now, and the table below shows just how much money you can save by shopping the dupe version of each of these luxury designer bags:

Also, H&M and ASOS offer a great range of woven tote bags made from straw and raffia that actually look a lot more luxe and expensive than they are, at around the £20 mark. Plus, if you're looking to stretch your budget a little, Oliver Bonas have a fantastic variety of colour crochet tote bags starting from £40 and ranging to about £75.

If you're looking for a crochet tote bag for your next beach holiday, a great tip is to actually wait until you get to your destination first. A lot of beach towns host markets and shops full of handmade bits and bobs, with beach bags being a popular option! I actually picked up the two beach bags below from a little market in Palma de Mallorca and they cost me under 20 euros each. I can definitely see myself using these all summer! This way, you don't have to worry about your bag taking up space and weight in your suitcase, you can just buy it there.

Shell Necklaces

Chunky jewellery is definitely having a moment, and shell necklaces are no exception. A Vogue article deems shell necklaces to be "the nostalgic trend of the summer." We've already seen beach-themed accessories so far printed on claw clips, but these gorgeous beach-inspired necklaces are taking the fashion world by storm, and have been pictured more than once on the fashion runway!

Mermaid core search term

To date, the search term "popular shell necklace" has a whopping 16.8 million results on TikTok, with the increasingly trending "mermaid core" fashion aesthetic bringing up an even more impressive 102.9 million total searches!

What is mermaid core?

Mermaid core is a hugely popular fashion aesthetic that's been on the rise on social media since early 2024. It takes inspiration from all things beach and ocean. Think iridescent blue and green tones, ocean-themed jewellery and beachy textures like linen, crochet and flowy clothing to create an ethereal look that is hot-to-trot!

I've put together a list of some free and cheap ways you can channel the mermaid core aesthetic using affordable products that you may already have at home.

  • Dewy makeup looks with glitter eyeshadow or highlighter.
  • "Mermaid hair" or soft beachy waves using the overnight heatless curls method, which can be achieved with a pair of socks or a dressing gown cord.
  • Flowy clothing with items you may have in your wardrobe like long white skirts and dresses.

Shell necklaces are so trendy that they can be found at most high-street fashion retailers and jewellery shops. Lovisa have some gorgeous options under the £20 mark, whilst Accesorize have a range of sizes available, starting at just £6 for the smaller shell pendants, going up to about £30 for the larger pendants. Orelia sell a variety of beach-themed gold and silver necklaces to elevate any summer outfit. Their shell pendants range anywhere between £30 and £65 depending on the size of the shell. Alternatively, they also have pendants sporting starfish, lobsters, crabs and even octopus charms for that proper beachy vibe! These range from between £22 to £32. Don't forget to use an Orelia discount code from Savoo to save money on your next order.

An alternative way to tap into this viral trend, is to make a sea shell necklace yourself! In my article on festival fashion, I talk about bead embroidery as a low-cost way to accessorize clothing, like t-shirts. The same applies for creating your own necklaces! Sea shell charms can be picked up from Shein, Amazon and Temu for as little as £2 for a pack of 6. Next all you need is wax cord string, which you can pick up for a few pounds at Hobbycraft and get creative with your jewellery at home!

Bag Charms

Bag charms have been spotted everywhere this summer, proving that minimalism may be out and maximalism is back in! From Harrods to Urban Outfitters, Accessorize to ASOS and more, so many retailers have been selling a wide range of bag charms which have truly been all the rage this year.

So what's the fuss all about?

An article by Harper's Bazaar suggests bag charms have been so well-received because it allows people to showcase a bit of their personality in their fashion choices, and adds that individuality to an outfit!

Where can I buy cheap bag charms?

I've done the research, and one of the cheapest charm finds has been New Look at £1.50. The next step up would be Accessorize which sell beaded bag charms for as cheap as £3.00 and TKMaxx which sell a variety of bag charms in different sizes, styles and colours for as low as £5.99, going all the way up to £40 for branded bag charms! Marks & Spencer offer a wide range of bag charms, especially those with sea-shell and starfish prints which tap into the mermaid core trend mentioned above. These sell for between £16 - £19 online.

An alternative way to sport the look whilst saving money is to make a bag charm yourself! You can buy a multipack of plain silver key chain hooks from Amazon for as low as £5.99 and then get creative with the charm designs yourself, DIY style! To keep the cost down even more, consider using items you already have at home as your bag charms. This could be anything from a lipbalm to a highlighter, or simply with custom-made beaded jewellery that you can make at home!

Mesh Ballet Flats

Mesh ballet flats have been spotted on all the A-listers this spring and summer, from Sophia Richie to Dua Lipa, Dakota Johnson, J-Law and many more!

So what is the hype all about?

My research shows that mesh ballet flats initially came into the spotlight way back in 2019, when luxury fashion brand The Row released them and essentially put them on people's radar. But it was only in 2024 where they really started to pique people's interests. Since then, we've seen designers like Alaia, Miu Miu, Reformation and Dear Frances release their own versions of these iconic ballet flats, in not just mesh but also crochet and netting too, with some sporting studded crystals for that additional bling!

The good news is, many retailers have since released high-street alternative versions for a fraction of the cost. Check out the below table where I've compared some of the trendiest designer options with affordable dupes to help you keep the cost down.

viral-mesh-ballet-flats-comparison-table.png

An article by Glamour lists 24 of the best mesh ballet flats to turn heads this summer, with both luxe and high-street options available. I have seen these shoes on ASOS for as low as £20, with varieties made from raffia, sequins, netting and even crochet. If you'rl looking to invest in a high-quality pair that will last you beyond the summer, Mint Velvet have a few options around the £60 mark. What's great about investing in a pair of mesh ballet flats, is that they are incredibly versatile and you'll find they go with lots of different outfits. You can style them with tapered trousers and a blouse for a day in the office, (and your feet will surely thank you on the commute!) or dress them up with a flowy skirt or dress for a summer's day out.

I purchased the above pair of ballet flats this summer using a Charles & Keith discount code from Savoo that saved me £6 off my order, bringing the total from £65 down to £59. After seeing ballet flats everywhere for months, I decided it was time to invest in a good-quality pair that would last me years to come. For me, saving money isn't just limited to spending the least, but it's also about getting good value for your money. Especially with shoes, if you're willing to spend a little more you'll find the quality to be a lot better. Often, with a super cheap pair of shoes the soles break or colour may rub off and your money feels wasted! Also, depending on the style and material of your shoes, I'd recommend either breaking them in at home first before wearing them out, or making sure you carry some plasters with you on the go, on the off chance they rub you.

Final Tips to Up Your Outfit Game Without Breaking the Bank

Stick to a colour palette

Check out my recent article on building a capsule wardrobe, where I talk about colour theory. By determining what colour season you are, and what tones suit you to elevate your look, you then have a clearer idea of what to look out for and what colours to avoid. This isn't just limited to clothing, but can easily apply to accessories like shoes, hats and also jewellery! By confirming your undertone, you'll know if you are a gold or silver girlie and can spend then tailor your budget accordingly, and avoid purchasing items that don't suit you and you'll never wear.

Embrace High-Low Styling

What is high-low styling? This refers to the principle of wearing both high-end fashion pieces with more affordable pieces within the same outfit, to elevate the entire look but essentially keep the cost down. An example of this could be wearing a more expensive dress you have in your wardrobe, but styling this with a high-street bought handbag or affordable pair of shoes. Overall, you'll still have a luxe look but for a fraction of the cost.

Quality over quantity

As discussed with the shoes example above, investing in quality over quantity is a great way on making your money go further and investing in pieces that can genuinely last you for years to come and survive wear and tear, as opposed to just lasting a season! As cheap jewellery tends to tarnish easily, try looking out for silver-plated jewellery made from materials like stainless steel and platinum that won't rust easily. If you're looking to wear your jewellery in the shower or in the sea, try and invest in waterproof jewellery so you can rest easy knowing your accessories won't rust in a short amount of time.

Care for your products

Ever heard of the saying 'If you take care of things, they will last?' Well that definitely rings true here! Adopting micro-habits to look after your belongings is a free and easy way to ensure they stay in good shape. For example, wiping down a leather tote bag after using it to get rid of any dust or dirty marks, polishing your jewellery with a cloth too so it stays shiny and having a sunglasses case with you to protect your frames from getting scratched!

Summary

You don’t need to spend a fortune to look stylish this summer. Whether you're adding a woven tote, throwing on a claw clip, or layering up some chunky jewellery, it’s all about finding the right accessories that elevate your look while keeping the cost down.

The key is to shop smart, browse high street brands for affordable options, check multi-pack deals to get more for your money, and always look out for a Savoo discount code before you buy! A few well-chosen accessories can completely transform your outfit and help you stay on-trend for less.
