At Candlelighters, we support families facing children's cancer in Yorkshire financially, emotionally and practically. We get involved in all sorts of different projects to help ordinary families who are facing extraordinary circumstances.

Did you know...

  • We are 100% reliant on donations as we receive no government funding.

  • We support all members of families affected by children’s cancer, including siblings- who are often overlooked.

  • There is no cut-off point for our support- we look after families during treatment, after treatment and when their child has sadly died. Our support continues for as long as the families need us.

What makes Candlelighters Trust different

We offer such a wide range of support at Candlelighters. We fund non-medical and medical research, and offer financial, practical and emotional support for families. We’re there in person at our Family Support Centre, The Square, to provide wellbeing therapies for stressed-out parents and grandparents and to run support groups for them- as well as siblings. But we also help from afar by funding roles within Leeds Children’s Hospital which help families during their stays on the ward. For example, we fund Play Leaders who help distract children during their medical treatments and who entertain those who are staying in hospital for both short and long periods of time.
