Group B Strep Support is a UK charity working to stop group B Strep (GBS) infection in babies. We would like all pregnant women to be informed about group B Strep and to be offered the opportunity to be tested for group B strep carriage as part of their antenatal care.

Group B Strep is the UK’s most common cause of life-threatening infection in newborn babies, causing meningitis, sepsis and pneumonia. On average in the UK;

• 2 babies a day develop group B Strep infection

• 1 baby a week dies from group B Strep infection

• 1 baby a week survives group B Strep infection with disability

Group B Strep Support is the leading charity for families affected by neonatal group B Strep infection. We provide information and support to these families, work closely with health professionals and campaign for improvements to prevention strategies.
