Tommy's exists to save babies’ lives and make pregnancy and birth safer for all, by addressing miscarriage, stillbirth and premature birth. Their mission is to halve the number of babies that die in pregnancy or birth by 2030.

They aim to achieve this by combining medical research with clinical support for high risk women, alongside expert-led pregnancy information for all pregnant women.

Did you know...

The scale of these problems in the UK is larger and more significant than most people realise. Did you know that 1 in 4 families lose a baby in pregnancy or birth, and that the UK has one of the worst stillbirth rates in Europe.

Yet, with more investment in research, many of these deaths could be prevented. Through Tommy's research centres, we have already reduced stillbirth by 30% in Scotland and 22% in Manchester, and we have reduced premature birth by 23% in London.

What makes Tommy's different

Tommy's charity uses what is learned through its research centres to inform pregnancy guidelines and improve care across the UK and beyond. Tommy's clinicians and scientists inform NICE guidelines, educate other health professionals and provide key information to inform the charity's own pregnancy information. The charity is now influencing clinical care for babies at risk of being born prematurely in Australia, rural Africa and Asia.
