This June, Savoo is proud to support Men’s Health Week by partnering with Heart Research UK, the national charity dedicated to fighting the UK’s biggest killer: heart disease. In the UK, men are almost twice as likely to have a heart attack compared to women and they tend to experience heart disease 10–15 years earlier on average.

From 2nd to 15th June, every time you claim a qualifying discount for Gym King through Savoo, a percentage of the revenue will be donated directly to Heart Research UK.

This Men’s Health Week, they want their customers to prioritise their well-being just as much as their physical appearance.

For many men, fitness is the gateway to better health, but heart health isn’t just about hitting the gym. It’s about knowing your risk, understanding the signs, and building healthy habits that last beyond the workout. Supporting our Heart Research campaign is a simple way to save while supporting life-saving research and health education programmes that help people across the UK live longer, healthier lives.

From 2nd-15th June, when you redeem a Savoo discount for Gym King and complete a purchase, a 2% donation will be made to the charity without costing you anything extra.

What is Men’s Health Week?

Men's Health Week is an annual initiative highlighting men's unique health challenges and encouraging action through awareness, prevention, and support. Each year, the campaign focuses on specific areas where men are at greater risk. In 2025, Men's Health Week takes place between June 9th and 15th, and this time, the spotlight is on early intervention and heart health.

The roots of Men’s Health Week go back to the early 1990s, when health professionals and advocates began to raise concerns about the fact that men, on average, were dying younger than women and from largely preventable causes. In 2002, the Men's Health Forum established the UK’s first official Men’s Health Week to confront these patterns and bring male-specific health issues into the spotlight.

Men’s Health Week isn’t only about spotlighting serious health issues like heart disease or testicular cancer. It’s about starting conversations that don’t always happen, especially among men with subjects like mental health.

Why Men’s Health Matters

Men’s health is too frequently a conversation left unspoken. Whether it’s brushing off symptoms, avoiding check-ups, or downplaying emotional and physical strain, many men are raised with the idea that vulnerability equals weakness.

That silence can come at a cost. From mental health struggles to undiagnosed physical conditions, the reluctance to talk openly or seek help means too many men are living with health issues that could be treated or even prevented.

One of the most urgent of these is heart disease, a condition that remains the leading cause of death among men in the UK. Heart disease is increasingly affecting men in their 30s, 40s, and 50s. This earlier onset means many working-age men are struck by heart conditions during their most productive years, impacting families, careers, and quality of life.

About Heart Research UK

Heart Research UK is a national charity with a bold mission: to prevent heart disease before it starts and to improve outcomes for those already affected. Since its founding in 1967, the charity has funded over £30 million in medical research and invested more than £2.7 million in Healthy Heart Grants to support local community projects across the UK. They have also developed pioneering surgical techniques including early work that helped establish the UK's first successful heart transplant.

But Heart Research UK doesn’t just operate in the lab. They work in communities too, bringing health education to schools, workplaces, and high-risk populations. Their Healthy Tips initiative delivers weekly guidance on everything from salt intake to how stress affects your heart, making preventative health more accessible for everyone. For example, men often have higher blood pressure and cholesterol earlier in life, which are major risk factors for heart disease.

With heart disease, very action counts. Whether it’s starting a conversation with someone you care about, learning the signs of heart disease, or donating directly to Heart Research UK to help them fund research, there are so many ways to make a difference. Why not select Heart Research UK as your chosen charity when joining Savoo? You will raise free donations for them whenever you shop online and redeem a discount.
