They are the leading charity making life fully inclusive for deaf people and those with hearing loss or tinnitus. RNID campaigns for an inclusive society, connecting people to practical advice, and pioneer new treatments for hearing loss and tinnitus.

One of the charities passions is accessible content in TV and cinema, their ‘Subtitle It’ campaign convinced Parliament to change the law and make all OnDemand services to subtitle their content – they are now working with Ofcom to make sure this happens. This year, their ‘Read My Lips’ campaign saw supporters step inside the Debenhams window display in Oxford Street to create awareness around facemasks and those who rely on lipreading to communicate. They also provide communication services, Deaf Awareness training, research new emerging tech, campaign to change policy and host fundraising events.

Other ways to support

Volunteering with RNID is a great way to make a big difference to the lives of deaf people and those with hearing loss or tinnitus.

Staff and volunteers support people across the UK who are deaf or have hearing loss or tinnitus during the coronavirus pandemic.

In the recent Volunteer Big Satisfaction Survey 2020, 90% of their volunteers said they would recommend RNID as a good place to volunteer.
