In Communities

Road deaths and injuries are devastating not just for victims and their families, but for the communities who know the people affected and where roads remain unsafe. That’s why Brake runs frequent campaigns, delivers projects and offers support and guidance for victims at both a national and local level. Brake coordinates Road Safety Week every year, providing free resources to encourage people to get involved. Plus MyBrake offers tools and guidance on how to progress safe and healthy mobility goals within your community.

Schools and Families

Creating road awareness from a young age is an important way to improve the safety of our roads for everyone. For this reason, Brake provides campaigns and initiatives throughout the year, aimed at teaching children the importance of road safety from as young as two and up. Brake’s objective is to work with road safety experts and academics to produce resources, lesson plans, activities and games that are carefully designed to have an impact.

Workplaces

A fundamental aspect of Brake’s work in road safety is supporting its global network of at-work drivers. One of the charities’ biggest initiatives is Global Fleet Champions - a global network of fleet drivers, managers and suppliers in the UK and across the world. Brake provides educational tools, events and webinars as well as a prestigious awards scheme to celebrate and encourage best practice in this field.

Why Donate To Brake

Brake’s work is only made possible by the incredible supporters, who fundraise and give to Brake. The charity welcomes any fundraising, donations and partnerships that help fund and deliver its campaigns and support people affected by road death and serious injury. Whether you are looking to run a marathon in memory, leave a gift in your will, or launch a corporate partnership project, you can get involved and support Brake.

Monthly Donations To Brake

  • If you're able to contribute, here's what the following amounts will go towards:

  • £5 could fund the necessary research for personalised treatment and care.
  • £10 could support research into how diet and lifestyle play a role in secondary breast cancer development.
  • £15 will buy a sterile flask and the liquids needed to grow human breast cancer cells in the laboratory to test new treatments.
  • £3 per month could help four children bereaved by road crashes, by providing their parents or carers with a children’s picture book and guidance on helping children
  • £10 a month could help us develop educational resources to help young people learn about road safety
  • £100 a month could help a road victim family to receive ongoing support from Brake’s National Road Victim Service.

If you decide to donate less, that's more than enough. Every pound is greatly appreciated.
