Acorn has been providing care, support, fun and laughter for children since 1988. Their purpose as a charity is to help children from 0-18 years and their families deal with life threatening or limiting conditions. Through a holistic method of special palliative care and nursing support, ranging from short breaks, psychological support, family support, Acorn provides specialist end of life care. Each type of care is tailored for individuals and their families, ensuring all circumstances are accounted for. With their team of healthcare professionals, the charity helps families feel supported throughout their child’s life. Their 3 main hospice locations in the UK are Selly Oak, Walsall & Worcester as well as the option for home visits.

Sensory experiences is promoted by Acorn since it can help children improve their creativity, concentrate, and engage with their surroundings.

The charity offer complementary therapies to children and families to assist with symptom relief and mental health.

Last year, Acorns cared for over 870 children and supported more than 1,140 families, including those who are bereaved.

It costs almost £10million a year to run their care services in hospices and the community. Acron rely heavily on the generosity of the general public to fund the majority of their activities. The great work of the charity would not be possible without your generosity or their 1,600 volunteers.

£25 will fund the essential materials needed for Acorn nurses to use in the family home.

£35 give a child one hour of specialist care in one of Acorn’s hospices.
