Founded in 1962,CAFOD works across the world we bring hope and compassion to poor communities, standing side by side with them to end poverty and injustice.

Nobody wants to live on handouts, so we equip people with the skills they need to support their families and give something back to their communities. During conflict and disasters, our local organisations act fast to provide food, water and shelter to people who have lost everything, and then help people to rebuild their lives and prepare for future disasters.

_When international bodies and governments make decisions that damage poor communities, we speak out. _

Did you know...

CAFOD is the official aid agency of the Catholic Church in England and Wales.

We work with people of all faiths and none.

We believe that everyone has the right to live their lives with dignity. That’s why we work through the local Catholic Church and other partners across the world to fight poverty and injustice, wherever the need is greatest.

We’re a member of Caritas International – a group of over 160 Catholic agencies – known as ‘the helping hand of the Church’. Because we work through the local Church we can reach people and places that others can’t.

What makes CAFOD different

By supporting CAFOD, you can help some of the world’s poorest people to tackle the toughest challenges; like conflict, climate change, HIV and AIDS. We work through existing, local organisations that know the people affected and know how best to help them.

During emergencies, we ensure that local organisations can act fast, providing food, water and shelter for people who have lost everything. And with your generosity, we can be there in the months and years that follow too, helping people rebuild their lives and prepare for whatever the future holds.

Other ways to support

Volunteers are very important to our work. And there are hundreds of ways to get involved - from stewarding at events, to speaking at Mass; from working in our offices, to starting your own parish team or lobbying MPs.

Whatever your interests, whatever your talents, whatever your time: volunteer with CAFOD and you'll truly be joining the dream team! Email volunteering@cafod.org.uk or sign up online: http://www.cafod.org.uk/Volunteer/Sign-Up
