We provide a wide range of holistic services which support, promote and secure the rights of asylum seekers and refugees in the London Borough of Southwark.

Did you know...

Many people who have fled war, persecution or poverty in their home countries and arrive in the UK face almost insurmountable barriers to making a new life here. They have no right to work and so have very limited or no financial support, and may be homeless or live in unsuitable accommodation.

Often they have had horrific experiences of torture or of losing friends and family, so they struggle with mental health problems. If they have limited ability to speak and understand English it can be difficult for them to know where to turn to get help.

What makes SDCAS different

We aim to offer a holistic approach to dealing with the problems which asylum seekers and refugees encounter. We have three day centres which offer an advice service which helps with immigration, housing, health and benefits. We provide English classes. We provide a free hot lunch and food bags, social activities and outings to help clients build new social networks and reduce their isolation. We provide crèche facilities and advice on parenting and access to school education.
