Stockport Mind was set up by a group of volunteers in 1971 and is affiliated to National Mind, one of the leading mental health charities in England and Wales.

Stockport and District Mind works towards a society where anyone who experiences mental distress is supported in their recovery, empowered to reach their full potential, and they and their family/Carers are free from stigma and discrimination.

Did you know...

We receive no core funding from the national Mind charity - we are affiliated but financially independent, so must raise our own funds. This means that all donations to - and fundraising for - us supports our local, front line mental health services. National Mind do vital work on a national level.

We are celebrating our 50th anniversary year in 2021. The organisation has seen so many changes since 1971 but our core ethos of supporting people, empowerment and reducing stigma has always remained.

Stockport Mind supports hundreds of people each year, and we regularly receive feedback like "I owe my life to this service" and "the only place I have ever found an umbrella of help and support is Stockport Mind".

Other ways to support

There are lots of ways to support Stockport Mind. You can make a single or regular donation, join our monthly online mailing list, become a member, host a fundraiser, or volunteer your time. Please get in touch with us for more information.

When you join or host an event for Stockport Mind, you’re doing more than just raising vital funds - you’re also joining many others in sending a message that mental health matters.

However you decide to support us, we’re here to help make it as easy and as fun as possible. We’ll be there to support you with encouragement, tips and huge thanks for choosing us.
