The Bromley by Bow Centre is an innovative charity in east London. We are based in Tower Hamlets, one of the most deprived boroughs in the country, where poverty and inequality is rife and over half of children live in poverty.

Our mission is to create a cohesive, healthy and successful community. We do this by providing support to empower people to build the skills, networks and confidence they need to achieve their goals and transform their lives.

Our services are for everyone in the local community, of all ages and backgrounds. They stretch from primary care for local residents, to opportunities to set up your own business; from support with tackling credit card debts, to getting a job for the first time.

Did you know...

  • The Bromley by Bow Health Centre is the UK’s first healthy living centre and it is owned by its patients.

  • Seventeen years ago, doctors here pioneered social prescribing to support patients to access community services and programmes on the understanding that health is mostly socially determined.

  • The Bromley by Bow Centre employs around 100 staff, over half of whom are local to the area and many started as volunteers.

What makes Bromley By Bow Centre different

We recognise that members of our community face multiple barriers to living a healthy, happy life, due to the high levels of poverty and deprivation that persist in the area.

That’s why we established a GP practice on the same site as our wide range of community support services. By bringing together medical and social support, we offer people the opportunity to improve their wellbeing and help prevent further ill health.

Other ways to support

There are many ways to get involved with the Bromley by Bow Centre, from organising fundraising events, taking part in a sporting challenge, getting your company involved or volunteering with us.
