Children’s Hospices Across Scotland (CHAS) are the only provider of respite and end-of-life care to children in Scotland with a life shortening condition, and their families. Their mission for the families we support is to be just that. A family. They help them create wonderful, happy memories with their children that will last a lifetime. Today, CHAS can only reach one in three of the families across Scotland who need their support, but are determined to reach them all. To do that, they need more specialist nurses and doctors, more trained carers, more volunteers, and more specialist equipment and facilities. That means, quite simply, that they need to raise more money – they need your help!

Learn More About CHAS

As well as their two hospices (Rachel House in Kinross, and Robin House in Balloch), CHAS also has a home care team called CHAS at Home, with teams based in Aberdeen, Inverness and both hospices. Meanwhile, their other care team, Diana Children’s Nurses, work between CHAS sites and children’s hospitals across the country. Both teams offer support to families in their own homes and communities, or in hospitals, helping them to enjoy the time they have together.

What makes CHAS different

CHAS is the only charity in Scotland providing hospice care for children. They make the most difficult time imaginable just that little bit easier for families. It’s not an easy journey and relies on the extraordinary dedication, compassion and expertise of their care team, and on the trust, courage and love of the families they work with.

Other ways to support CHAS

CHAS are always looking for people to get involved by helping raise awareness of their cause, and for volunteers. It has hundreds of volunteers spread throughout Scotland, who are involved in every area of their work – caring for their children and families, raising money to pay for their vital care, providing administrative support, helping to make meals… the list is endless. If you’re looking for a way to make a difference to the lives of kids across Scotland, and have some spare time why not #doitforCHAS and email volunteering@chas.org.uk? Opportunities to volunteer with this charity are very flexible and its team can work with you to find something that suits you.
