Improving the quality of people's lives through the training and provision of support dogs

Did you know...

At Savoo, we're proud to support Support Dogs, a charity that transforms lives by training specialist assistance dogs for people with complex medical conditions and disabilities.

Support Dogs runs three life-changing programmes. The charity trains disability assistance dogs to help adults with physical tasks that may otherwise be painful or difficult. Autism assistance dogs provide safety, reassurance and communication support for children with autism, while epilepsy seizure alert dogs are trained to detect seizures before they happen, giving clients valuable advanced warning and greater independence.

Every dog is provided free of charge to the people who need them most. Support Dogs relies entirely on voluntary donations and fundraising support to continue this vital work.

What makes Support Dogs special

Support Dogs is the only charity in Europe training dogs to detect epileptic seizures before they occur, helping improve safety and confidence for people living with epilepsy. The charity is also one of only two organisations in the UK providing specially trained assistance dogs for children with autism.

Many of the dogs trained by Support Dogs come from rescue centres or were once unwanted pets, giving them a second chance while changing someone's life. The charity also works with clients' own dogs as part of the disability assistance programme.

Other ways to support Support Dogs

Support Dogs' assistance dogs live in loving home environments during training rather than kennels, thanks to a network of dedicated foster carers. The charity is always looking for volunteer foster carers in the Sheffield area to help care for dogs outside of training hours.

You can also support Support Dogs every time you shop online with Savoo. By using discount codes and deals on our site, you can help raise free donations for the charity at no extra cost to you.
