Did you know...
Wimbledon Greyhound Welfare (WGW) is a small independent charity that receives no funding from the government or the greyhound racing industry.
The only paid staff are the kennel staff who care for the greyhounds 365 days a year. The charity has no paid office or clerical staff, fundraisers or promotional staff. The charity only exists because of the fantastic support of volunteers .
WGW provides a Sanctuary for those greyhounds who may be difficult to home, either because of ongoing medical issues or behavioural problems and these greyhounds have a home here at the kennels with us for as long as they need it.
What makes Wimbledon Greyhound Welfare different
Unlike some rescues/rehoming centres, WGW does not discriminate on the greyhounds that come into kennels for homing. If a greyhound has retired from racing and is put on the list to come in, then it will; regardless of colour, sex, size or temperament.
There is no set limit on the length of time that a greyhound stays with WDW nor are there financial limits on the cost of an individual greyhounds’ medical care.
All greyhounds enjoy a caring and stimulating environment, enhanced by the charity's army of volunteers who are invited to come any day of the week to walk them and give them individual attention they so desperately need.
