The Ministry of Stories helps young people develop their writing skills, and provides a publishing platform for enthusiastic young writers. Mentoring programmes, writing workshops and the support of other creatives aims to help boost the confidence of these budding young writers and inspire their stories; encouraging them to realise and exercise their own creative potential.

Did you know...

Ministry of Stories (MoS) was started in 2010 and is hidden behind Hoxton Street Monster Supplies; London's only shop for monsters of all kinds.

Hackney is one of the most deprived boroughs in London and MoS offers local young people the chance to unleash their creativity, improve literacy levels and raise self esteem and confidence through creative writing.

What makes Ministry of Stories different

One to one mentoring means that the team can focus on each child's individual needs. Every young person is given the freedom to write and create characters, opening up their imaginations and increasing school attainment.

Other ways to support

Volunteers are the life blood of the Ministry of Stories and they could not continue their work without them. MoS is a small organisation and no child pays to take part in any workshop, therefore, without generous donations the charity could not carry on helping local young people.
