Did you know...
Dying Matters has over 30,000 members across England and Wales who all share a commitment to changing the way society views dying and the experience of people who are dying and bereaved.
The charity aims to address the lack of openness surrounding 'death' which has subsequently affected the quality and range of support and care services available to patients and families.
Dying Matters offers its members encouragement, support and assistance in running local campaigns, as well as access to a range of useful resources. Membership is free and open to everyone.
What makes Dying Matters different
It has been said that what we fear most about dying is the associated loss of control. By empowering individuals to express their wishes, that control can be restored.
Dying Matters encourages people to talk about and communicate their preferences for the end of their lives.
They achieve this by bringing together individuals and organisations, i.e. NHS, voluntary and independent health and care sectors; social care and housing sectors; faith and community organisations; schools and colleges; academic bodies; trade unions; the legal profession and the funeral sector, and together, they promote public awareness of dying, death and bereavement.
